2022 Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

There is an ancient Catholic tradition that on August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption, there is healing in the waters of the sea.  For the last several years, the summer parish of Our Lady of the Magnificat in Ocean Beach has revived the custom. 

​On August 15, at Our Lady of the Magnificat, many parishioners participated in the annual Blessing of the Waters to honor our Blessed Mother and ask her intercession for us and our families.  
 
Father Edward Sheridan presided at the 9:00 AM Mass and led the procession to the ocean. 
 
Father Fasano concelebrated. 
 
The statue of our Lady was carried in procession on this beautiful day. 
 
Father Sheridan blessed the waters, praying for the safety of all those who visit Ocean Beach. 
 
The participants were blessed with the Holy Water taken from the sea.
