There is an ancient Catholic tradition that on August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption, there is healing in the waters of the sea. For the last several years, the summer parish of Our Lady of the Magnificat in Ocean Beach has revived the custom. Following the Holy Day Mass, the congregation processes to the beach to pray for the sick and to seek healing.
Visitors are welcome to make a "pilgrimage" to Ocean Beach for the feast day.
For 2020, the Holy Day Mass was celebrated on Saturday, August 15th at 9:00 am in the Church with the procession to the beach immediately following at about 9:30 am.
