A Message from the Pastor
Grace and Peace! I am grateful to serve as the Administrator of Our Lady of the Magnificat and I look forward to renewing old friendships and beginning new ones this summer. Having grown up on Oak Island a few miles to the west, I am deeply aware of the special nature of this community and its extraordinary environment. Please note that there are Mass intentions available for the 2017 season. The current schedule may be found here. Work continues on the Church. Doug Myer and his crew have done wonderful work on the South, West, and East sides. The Centennial Campaign has met and exceeded its goal of $200,000. This year, we will repair the concrete steps to the front entrance, replace the rusted railing, and replace the siding on the front and the tower. That work will be out most complex project to date. In addition, we will be installing a memorial that will acknowledge our benefactors. We will continue to hold "open porch" gatherings at the parish house. Please consider joining us. It is a good way for the priests to hear your opinions about the parish - and a way to get to know the good people of Fire Island. Remember too, that we will need to start thinking about celebration plans for the Centennial! God bless you and your family! Yours in Christ, Fr. Richard |
