A Message from the Pastor
Grace and Peace!
I am grateful to serve as the Administrator of Our Lady of the Magnificat and I look forward to renewing old friendships and beginning new ones this summer. Having grown up on Oak Island a few miles to the west, I am deeply aware of the special nature of this community and its extraordinary environment.
Please note the change to our Mass schedule for the 2017 season. The Saturday Mass will now be offered at 5:30 PM. This will allow the priests more time to get to the beach (especially in the Spring and Fall), and it will give families a little more time to get back from the beach.
Please note that there are Mass intentions available for the 2017 season. The current schedule may be found here.
Work continues on the Church. Doug Myer and his crew have done wonderful work on the South and West sides. This September, the work will move to the East side. The Centennial Campaign has met and exceeded its goal of $200,000. This summer, we will begin planning for the memorial that will acknowledge our benefactors.
This summer, we will continue to hold "open porch" gatherings at the parish house. Please consider joining us. It is a good way for the priests to hear your opinions about the parish - and a way to get to know the good people of Fire Island. Remember too, that we will need to start thinking about celebration plans for the Centennial!
God bless you and your family!
Yours in Christ,
Msgr. Richard Henning, administrator
Fr. Gregory Rannazzisi, summer assistant
